Robert's Page

Those of you who already know me will know that I'm not great at keeping web-pages up to date. I'm fine designing the layouts and sorting out graphics and things. However, the bit I'm not very good at is writing the actual words - I much prefer it when someone else provides the content, and I just have to sort it all out and make it web-friendly.

I could start with a physical description, but it might be easier to just put a picture here and let you work all that out for yourselves.

OK. This is me. It's hard to find picture of myself that I like at the best of times, and usually they're taken by someone else so I havn't got a copy of them. This one is from a group photograph taken with my brothers in August 1997.

I was born at 17:55 on Sunday July 8th, 1973 at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton, Somerset which makes me ... umm.... 27 at the time of writing. My mum is what we call in the family a "Newsaholic" as she likes to hear the news broadcasts every hour. I don't think she's every quite forgiven me for appearing exactly when I did (five minutes before the BBC1 early evening news on TV).

You probably don't want to hear everything that's happened since then, so I'll spin on to 1991. Just picture a clock with the hands turning faster and faster and pages changing on calendars- you know the sort of thing.

Anyway, I left the Richard Huish College in the summer of 1991 with `A' levels in Computing, Physics and Pure Maths with Statistics. The following January I started work as a trainee computer programmer at local bed manufacturer, Relyon. Eight and a half years (and about ten job titles) later, I'm still working there. These days I'm called an "Internet Developer" and as well as running the company web-site, I'm developing e-commerce relationships with some of our customers, and setting up a company intranet. As well as all this, I help out with some of the network management, and helpdesk work. Never a dull moment!

In 1997 I met Sandra, and you can read my version of our story here. We married on the 23rd of January 1999 at St. Andrews Church in Taunton. We live in Taunton with Sandra's son, Matthew and, of course, our three cats Susie, Cari & Sniff.

As well as computers and the Internet, my hobbies include reading, music and (believe it or not) cross-stitch.
